You Own Your Logs
What is Privacy Logging?
Privacy Logging is a fundamentally different approach to VPN privacy. Instead of claiming “we never log anything”, we believe that logging can be useful — but only when you are in control of it.
With Privacy Logging, any diagnostic or connection logs generated by the Nexun VPN app are stored exclusively on your own device. These logs help you troubleshoot connection issues and understand what the app is doing — but they never leave your device unless you actively choose to share them.
Nexun’s servers have no access to your logs. We cannot read them, we cannot request them, and we cannot be forced to hand them over — because they are not on our systems.
Your Logs, Your Device
All logs generated by the Nexun VPN app are written locally to your device’s storage only. This includes:
- Connection events (connected, disconnected, server changed)
- App diagnostic messages (errors, warnings, status updates)
- Network quality indicators (latency, packet loss, if measured)
These logs are never transmitted to Nexun’s servers automatically. They remain on your device under your full control at all times.
You Are in Control
Through the Nexun VPN app, you can at any time:
- View your logs — inspect what the app has recorded on your device
- Clear your logs — permanently delete all local logs with one tap
- Export your logs — save a log file to share with our support team
- Share with support — attach logs to a support ticket when you need help
Sharing logs is always 100% voluntary. Our support team will never ask you to share logs unless you have opened a ticket and agree to it. You can always refuse.
What We Never Store on Our Servers
The following data is never stored on Nexun’s infrastructure:
- Your browsing history or websites visited
- DNS queries and resolutions
- Your real IP address
- The IP address of the VPN server you connect to (not linked to your account)
- The content of your internet traffic
- Download and upload activity
- Connection timestamps linked to user accounts
- Bandwidth usage per session
- Network traffic patterns
- Any activity logs from the VPN app
This is not just a policy — it is technically enforced. Our VPN infrastructure is designed so that this data is never written to our systems in the first place.
What We Do Store
The only data retained by Nexun is strictly necessary for account management:
- E-mail address — for account registration and communication
- Device registrations — device name (not uniquely identifiable) for device management
- Subscription status — which plan is active and when it renews
- Anonymous server statistics — total traffic volume per server (no individual user data)
None of this data can be linked to your online activities, because your activities are never recorded on our systems.
Authority Requests
Should we receive a legal request to provide user data:
- Activity logs do not exist on our servers — they live on your device only. We cannot hand over what we do not have.
- We will evaluate every request legally under EU/GDPR law and challenge it where possible
- The only data we could ever provide: e-mail address and subscription status
- Even if authorities demand your logs, they would need to obtain them directly from your device — not from Nexun
Transparency
We believe in full transparency. If we ever receive a legal request that we are prohibited from disclosing, we will publish a warrant canary on our website to inform users. We also commit to publishing an annual transparency report.
Privacy Logging is not a marketing claim — it is a verifiable technical architecture. Your logs are on your device. You are the boss of your own logs.
